Miami stops Michigan State

The Miami RedHawks, behind senior goalie David Burleigh, snapped a seven-game road losing streak and Michigan State's seven-game unbeaten streak with a 5-3 victory Friday night in East Lansing.

It was Miami's first victory over the Spartans in their last nine meetings.

Miami (16-11-2, 10-9-2 CCHA) jumped past MSU (14-10,2, 10-7-1 CCHA) in the standings, getting goals from junior forwards Greg Hogeboom and Mike Kompon (with two goals, including an empty-netter) and freshmen defensemen Andy Greene and Stephen Dennis.

They play again tonight.
