Southern Miss (9-9, 2-3) was led by La'Tasha Sumerall and Allison Story with 11 points apiece. Jessica Woods hit double figures with 10 points.

St. Joseph's 67, Xavier 64

XU's late comeback fell short as the Musketeers lost in Philadelphia.

Freshman Kristy Wallner launched a 3-point try from the top of the key as time expired, but her shot hit off the rim.

XU fell to 13-6 (5-3 Atlantic 10); St. Joseph's is now 12-7 (7-1).

Freshman Tara Boothe led XU with 18 points and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds for her sixth career double-double. Sophomore Alexis Henderson and seniors Reetta Piipari and Amy Waugh each scored 13 points.

The Hawks scored the first 13 points of the game, as XU needed almost 41/2 minutes to get on the scoreboard. The Hawks were 10-for-16 from the field in their opening run.
