No. 2 Pitt could be without Knight vs. 24th-ranked Syracuse

PITTSBURGH - Point guard Brandin Knight participated in light drills with No. 2 Pittsburgh Friday but is questionable for today's game at No. 24 Syracuse because of a sprained left ankle.

Team spokesman Greg Hotchkiss said Knight's availability will be a game-time decision.

Knight originally hurt the ankle Dec. 31 at Georgia, then reinjured it when he landed on Julius Page's foot during practice Wednesday. He did not practice Thursday, Pitt coach Ben Howland said.

Knight didn't score in Pitt's 73-60 victory over Syracuse on Jan. 18.

If Knight is unable to play, redshirt freshman Carl Krauser would make his first college start.

OHIO STATE: Coach Jim O'Brien said it was unlikely injured sophomore center Terence Dials would return to play this season unless the Buckeyes dramatically improve. If he doesn't play, Dials can qualify for a medical redshirt and have three more years of eligibility, according to NCAA rules.

LSU: Forward Jaime Lloreda was suspended for one game by the Southeastern Conference after elbowing Florida's Brett Nelson on the head earlier this week. He'll miss the Tigers' game with Alabama today.

MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE: Freshman guard Michael Archie is alert, talkative and in stable condition five days after a nightclub shooting left him paralyzed from the waist down. Authorities said Alonzo Hemphill forced his way into the club and started firing; he was shot four times and died.
