ECHL CYCLONES LOSE: Wheeling extended Cincinnati's losing streak to five games (0-4-1) - four at home - with a 5-3 victory at U.S. Bank Arena. Goalie Gregg Naumenko suffered the loss in his Cyclones debut. The former Mighty Duck was signed to replace injured Greg Hewitt.
"At this time of the year it can be pretty difficult to find quality players available,'' said Cyclones coach Malcolm Cameron. "With Gregg Naumenko, he was right here in our backyard. Gregg is a guy who has been to the top (NHL), he led the Dayton Bombers to the (Kelly Cup) finals last year and he immediately provides us with a top notch goaltender.''
Naumenko, a four-year pro, holds AHL Mighty Ducks records for most career games (96) and wins (39).
The Cyclones activated Josh Maser and placed Jeff Mercer on injured reserve.
The Cyclones host the Peoria Rivermen at 7:05 p.m. today at U.S. Bank Arena.
