Today's money tip

Choose high deductibles on home and auto insurance to lower your premium. If you're worried about having to pay the high deductible in case of emergency, take the monthly savings from the lowered insurance bill to build emergency savings. Once you have the deductible amount built up, difference in your monthly bills becomes bona fide savings.

Today's career tip

Clothes don't always make the man or woman, Allison Hemming says in Work It!. "They are only part of the way you package yourself," she says. "If you're slouched or don't maintain eye contact, you might as well be wearing a potato sack. Mom was right, sitting up straight matters. Today's Company: The Outlook Group INC.

Looking Ahead: In 1985 Charles W. Anderson founded The Outlook Group in Franklin. The funeral director and funeral home owner realized that other owners of independent facilities needed help in developing and improving their sales of advance funeral planning programs. Currently, company staff work with funeral homes in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

Professional Development: Although the company's aim is to educate the public about the advantages of specifying their funeral needs ahead of time, The Outlook Group works only with businesses within the industry. At the company's Academy of Advance Funeral Planning, professionals learn more about lead generation, closing techniques, time management, sales presentations and marketing.

Spiraling Sales: The company's 2002 sales set a new record. Its revenues were $32 million, a more than 15 percent increase over 2001.
