CHEVIOT - Construction will begin soon to replace water mains and reconstruct West St. Martins Avenue and Smith Road as part of a joint project between Cheviot and the Cincinnati Water Works.
"This is basically the completion of the 2002 jobs'' on city streets, said Steve Neal, Cheviot safety service director.
"Traffic interruption will be minimal,'' Mr. Neal said.
The nearly $500,000 project is being financed jointly.
"The project is actually a city of Cheviot street improvement contract in which we have approximately $230,000 of water main work associated with it,'' said Russ Weber, Cincinnati Water Works supervising engineer.
Cheviot is contributing about $250,000.
Materials have been delivered to the site, Mr. Weber said.
The project is expected to extend through May.
