Libertas head named to geographic council

Dave Hatter, president of Libertas Technologies LLC, recently was appointed to serve on Kentucky's Geographic Information Advisory Council (GIAC).

He was tapped by Gov. Paul Patton's office because of his expertise in information technology.

The GIAC is an unfunded advisory body whose membership represents all cabinets in Kentucky state government, major statewide agencies and organizations including the Kentucky Geological Survey, the Kentucky League of Cities, the Kentucky Association of Counties, the Chamber of Commerce, and various professional associations.

The group helps state and local jurisdictions apply geographical information to public administrative decisions.

Libertas, based in Fort Wright, develops Internet and Intranet systems as well as "Extranet" sites that incorporate features for internal and external audiences.

Mr. Hatter has nearly 11 years of programming experience using a variety of tools and has worked with Lotus Notes/Domino for about eight years.

Put your stamp on custom e-mail

A new Lawrenceburg company is providing personalized e-mail services for the region.

Jerico Direct, launched in the latter part of 2002, markets the graphically-enhanced e-mail capabilities of OnLetterhead.com. The product allows a user to send e-mail in a letterhead format that complements the company Web site and brands the company's image on every message.

"This is Web based service that does not require additional equipment or software programs," said Joe James of Jerico Direct.

"The cost is based on the number of users but will not exceed $5.99 per month per user. We brought this product to Cincinnati and will concentrate on companies in the Tristate area."

The OnLetterhead.com product gives users a choice of signatures, closings and forms of stationery, so that each message is appropriate for sender and recipient.

Each stationery letterhead provides a direct link to the sender's Web site.

Jerico Direct is at 20080 Alpine Drive. Information: (812) 637-5703 or http://jericodirect.com.

Synergy goes to Digital Ink

After a decade of maintaining RACO Industries' online presence, the Synergy Group is now Digital Ink. The new company, a RACO division, specializes in design and text for print and electronic media, and copywriting.

The creative group has shifted its focus from an in-house unit to serving external clients as well.

The company has taken on additional staff and has contracted with veteran business writer Andy Hemmer for writing and promotional services.

"Digital Ink is uniquely positioned to contribute to projects at any point along their creative path, from original design and text to layout and production," said Mr. Hemmer.

"For some, Digital Ink does it all. For others, the group of graphic artists, Web designers and desktop publishers step up when they're needed."

The company is at 5480 Creek Road in Blue Ash.

Web site converts to the Portal Planet

Justin Rains has renamed his Web design and hosting company. The Erlanger business, formerly WSI.com Consulting, is now Portal Planet.

The company provides client support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

According to Mr. Rains, it caters to small businesses that want to take advantage of the Internet.

To promote its new name, Portal Planet is donating three free Web sites to Tristate-based nonprofit organizations that enter the Portal Planet Raffle by Jan. 24.

"For each winner, Portal Planet will develop a home page and up to three additional pages," Mr. Rains said.

"This does not include Web site hosting, but hosting can be provided at a below-market rate."

The drawing will be held Jan. 31 at the Madison E-Zone Business Incubator.

Winners will be notified by telephone and their names posted on the Portal Planet Web site.
