WEST CHESTER TWP. - The Butler County Department of Environmental Services issued a boil advisory Sunday for more than 4,000 residents after a water main break along Allen Road.
The break occurred between 5 and 6 a.m. Repairs were expected to be completed by today, said Tony Parrott, the agency's director. The cause of the break wasn't immediately known. The precautionary boil advisory will remain in effect until an "all clear" is issued this afternoon.
The advisory impacts West Chester residents living east of Interstate 75 as well as people living east of West Chester in Liberty Township and Warren County, specifically those in the Four Bridges, Taylor Village and Evergreen Estates subdivisions in Liberty and Hundred Oakes and Hampton Village subdivisions in Mason.
Four schools affected - Hopewell Elementary, Hopewell Junior, Shawnee Elementary and Adena Elementary - will remain open with school officials providing drinking water.
