NKU finally loses a game

Northern Kentucky's men's basketball team fell short of the school's record of 13 straight wins to open a season Sunday, suffering its first loss, 74-60, at Hillsdale (Mich.) College.

The Norse (10-1), enteredranked No.6 in the nation in Division II and No.1 in the Great Lakes region. Hillsdale (7-3) was 10th.

NKU trailed 34-29 at halftime. The Norse shot just 39 percent from the field after the intermission, including 1-of-10 from behind the 3-point arc.

Brenden Stowers led NKU with 16 points. Bobby St-Preux grabbed a game-high eight rebounds. NKU plays at Indianapolis at 7:30p.m. Thursday.

Women's basketball

DePAUW 82, TMC 62: DePauw (8-2) opened with a 14-4 run, then outrebounded Thomas More 44-29 and made 25-of-26 free throw attempts to pull away.

Ashley Will tallied 16 points to pace Thomas More (6-4). The Saints play Ohio Wesleyan at 2p.m. Tuesday.
