NKU hoops gets top ranking

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Northern Kentucky University men's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the season's first Great Lakes Region poll.

NKU (7-0) is followed by Ashland (Ohio), Michigan Tech and Kentucky Wesleyan. NKU has already posted a road victory at Wesleyan and beaten Findlay, the No. 7 team in the Great Lakes poll.

The Norse will play host to Wayne (Mich.) State - No. 8 in the region - at 7:45 p.m. Monday.

The region's No. 1 seed at the end of the season will play host to the regional portion of the NCAA Division II Tournament.
