An Over-the-Rhine man beaten Saturday in the 1700 block of Elm Street died Tuesday, making him the city's 61st homicide victimof the year and the third victim who died that day.
Larry Thomas, 33, was found about noon Saturday bleeding and lying on the ground. Homicide detectives learned Tuesday afternoon that he had died at University Hospital.
Police were seeking two men seen leaving the scene in a red Mercury Cougar with a temporary license plate. Mr. Thomas apparently got involved in an altercation with them, during which one picked him up and slammed his head onto the sidewalk.
Two other people were killed Tuesday.
Charles Barfield Sr., 49, was shot to death about 3 p.m. on Sutter Avenue in English Woods.
Kareem Brogden, 32, was shot dead near the intersection of East Clifton and Frintz streets in Over-the-Rhine.
Capt. Vince Demasi, commander of the Criminal Investigations Section, said he expects arrests soon in at least two of the three killings.
Cincinnati had 63 homicides last year, the most since 1987, when 66 people were killed.
