Starting left tackle Jordan Black has been suspended for the first half of Saturday's game against Rutgers by coach Tyrone Willingham for violating an unspecified team rule.
"I violated team policy and I'm suffering the consequences," Black said Thursday after practice.
Willingham declined to comment on the suspension, saying it was a team issue.
The South Bend Tribune reported that Black was being punished for parking violations that led to his car being towed three times.
PURDUE: Offensive tackle Kelly Butler is accused of hitting a pledge at a fraternity house where quarterback Brandon Kirsch earlier had broken his hand in a fight.
Butler, 20, was released on $500 bond on a misdemeanor battery charge, and is scheduled for a court appearance Dec. 16.
"The police have completed their investigation, and now the court will consider this matter," coach Joe Tiller said. "At the end of that process, I will make a determination on any further action, if any, to take."
The Associated Press couldn't reach Butler for comment.
ETC: Seniors Nate Burleson of Nevada and Charlie Rogers of Michigan State and junior Shaun McDonald of Arizona State are finalists for the Biletnikoff Award.
Named after Florida State All-American and NFL Hall of Famer Fred Biletnikoff, the award goes each year to the nation's top receiver.
LSU's Josh Reed won in 2001.
Burleson has 131 catches for 1,558 yards and 11 touchdowns; Rogers has 63 catches for 1,287 yards and 13 touchdowns; and McDonald has 75 catches for 1,280 yards and 13 touchdowns.
