Miami to sign Grant Co. guard
Grant County (Ky.) High basketball star Tyler Jones plans to sign today with the Miami RedHawks.
The 6-foot-2 shooting guard averaged 20.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists last season and shot 36 percent from the field, including 36 percent from 3-point range. Jones will join two other RedHawks signees in the fall of 2003: 6-8 forward Eric Van Buskirk (Loveland) and 6-8 forward Nathan Peavy (Chaminade-Julienne). As a junior, Van Buskirk averaged 12.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game while pacing Loveland to a 20-3 record. Peavy averaged 11.6 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last season.
