UC, Miami advance in NCAA soccer

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Amy Simonson scored 3:04 into the second half as No. 24-ranked Cincinnati defeated Kentucky 1-0 Friday to advance to the second round of the NCAA Women's Collegiate Cup Soccer Tournament.

UC (17-3-3) plays Tennessee (17-5-1), a 5-0 winner over Furman, in the round at 2 p.m. Sunday. UK finished 11-9.

MIAMI TOPS MSU: Miami's women's soccer team advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after defeating Michigan State 2-1 at snowy Ann Arbor, Mich. Katie Milligan and Ashley Swinehart scored for Miami (19-2-2), which plays Michigan, a 1-0 winner over Oakland, in the second round Sunday. MSU finished 12-7-2.
