Osgood saves Isles

The Associated Press

UNIONDALE, N.Y. - Jason Blake scored the tiebreaking goal at 7:43 of the third period, and the New York Islanders beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 Sunday to win consecutive games for the first time this season.

Chris Osgood made 38 saves for the Islanders, who also got goals from Shawn Bates and Eric Manlow. Jere Lehtinen scored twice for Dallas, which lost for the first time in four games.

The Stars had been 5-0-0-1 at the Islanders since a 5-3 loss on Feb. 4, 1996.

Predators 4, Avalanche 3

DENVER - Vladimir Orszagh scored at 15:55 of the third period, Tomas Vokoun had 33 saves and Nashville prolonged Colorado's home-ice futility.

Nashville won for the first time in 13 road games dating to last season. Colorado fell to 0-4-3-1 at home this season - the worst home start in the franchise's 24-year history.

Wyatt Smith, Jason York and David Legwand also scored for Nashville.

Joe Sakic, Alex Tanguay and Mike Keane scored for the Avalanche. Patrick Roy made 24 saves in his return from a three-game absence due to a sore left hip.

Mighty Ducks 1, Wild 0

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Jean-Sebastien Giguere got his first shutout of the season and rookie Stanislav Chistov scored the only goal in the first period as Anaheim beat Minnesota for its third straight victory.

Giguere, who was fifth in the NHL last season with a 2.13 goals-against average, recorded his ninth career shutout and his first since April 5 against Edmonton.

Minnesota (10-4-2) still has a league-leading 22 points despite three losses in its last four games.
