Cell phone rings up 4 arrests
Calls lead police to Price Hill shooting suspects
Cincinnati police detectives started with only a cell phone for evidence in a drug deal-turned-shooting Sunday in Price Hill, but ended early Friday with four arrests, three guns and a woman they say is a stripper who led two victims to the crime scene.
Among those arrested for
the 7:30 a.m. shooting on Sunset Avenue was Shawn Jones, who police said had only about a week to go to finish his parole for a Kentucky robbery several years ago in which a Campbell County police officer was shot.
District 3 investigators David Brown and Michael Roth started with a search warrant on the cell phone, from which they got the subscriber's name, then calls made on the phone.
That helped them assemble a lineup, from which the victims identified Mr. Jones, 29, of Lower Price Hill, who was charged with aggravated robbery and having weapons under disability. They also identified Clayton A. Raines, 26, of Price Hill, charged with two counts of aggravated robbery; and Donna Mercedes Bishop, 22, of Batavia, charged with two counts of complicity to commit aggravated robbery.
Ms. Bishop is an exotic dancer who lured the victims to the crime scene, Sgt. Phil Vickers said. A 16-year-old girl also was charged with complicity. All three were arrested early Friday at a house on Nancy Lee Lane in West Price Hill.
One of the victims was shot in the chest and stripped of his clothing. His condition was not known Friday. Sgt. Vickers said they were lured to the Sunset Avenue house to make a drug transaction.
Investigators also found three guns, boxes of ammunition, ski masks and police scanners.
