Centre vs. Harvard win to be made into movie

By The Associated Press

DANVILLE, Ky. - Thousands watched Centre College's “Praying Colonels” back in 1921 as the small-town, Southern college took on and beat the Crimson of Harvard, 6-0.

The legendary game soon will be recreated for the big screen.

Actor Matt Battaglia, who appears in the movie Half Past Dead next month, plans to produce the film for release in 2004.

Centre College's victory thrust the team into the national spotlight, causing as many as 20,000 fans to turn out and greet the team at the train station following the win, Centre College football coach Andy Frye said.

While Centre is “thrilled” to have the movie made about the game, it doesn't have any financial involvement, Mr. Frye said.

The film's producer also has connections to Kentucky football.

Mr. Battaglia is a former All- American linebacker from the University of Louisville and played for Howard Schnellenberger.
