Furyk leads in Vegas

LAS VEGAS - Jim Furyk, bidding for a fourth win in this event in eight years, shot an 8-under 64 Friday and held a one-stroke lead over Jeff Sluman after three rounds of the Invensys Classic at Las Vegas. Furyk birdied four straight holes on his front nine, avoiding any bogeys for the third day in a row.
Sluman had his only bogey of the week on the first hole before recovering to shoot a 64. Charles Howell III had a 66 and Stuart Appleby shot a 64 and were tied for third at 17-under 198 in the 90-hole tournament played on three courses.
Lee Janzen, who shot a 63 in the first round but faded to a 74 in the second, came back with a 9-under 62 that included eagles on two of the first four holes at the Canyons course. Janzen shot 29 on the front nine and was at 16 under, four shots back.

MOBILE, Ala. - Carin Koch chipped in for a birdie on the first hole and went on to a 5-under 67 that gave her a four-stroke lead over Cristie Kerr after two rounds of the Mobile LPGA Tournament of Champions at Magnolia Grove Golf Club's Crossings Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.
Kerr had a 63 that put her at 11 under. Catriona Matthew (66) and Emilee Klein (68) were at 10 under while defending champion Se Ri Pak had a 70 and was another stroke back.
Annika Sorenstam, seeking her fourth straight LPGA win and 10th of the year, birdied two of the last four holes to salvage a 70 that left her at 7 under for the tournament.

NAPA, Calif. - Allen Doyle had a run of four straight birdies in an 8-under 64 and held a one-stroke lead over defending champion Sammy Rachels and Bruce Fleisher after the first round of the Napa Valley Championship.
Doyle had eight birdies, including the four starting at No. 8, at the 6,640-yard Silverado Resort course.
Tom Kite and Kermit Zarley, who made a hole-in-one on the 191-yard 7th, were tied at 66.
Rachels, who didn't make his first birdie until No. 5, added four in a row starting at No. 9.

SAINT NOM LA BRETECHE, France - Maarten Lafeber shot a 6-under 65 and held a two-shot lead after two rounds of the Lancome Trophy.
The 27-year-old Dutchman had a two-day total of 12-under 130.
First-round leader Alex Cejka of Germany shot a 68 and was in second place, while Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez and Welshman Bradley Dredge were at 135.
Nick Faldo, who shot a 65 in the first round, fell back after a 74. Defending champion Sergio Garcia shot a 70 and was tied for 10th at 137.
