Teen sought in stabbing at mall

SPRINGDALE - Police are searching for a teenage female who stabbed a Greenhills man in a parking garage at Tri-County Mall Friday.

Donald Challinor, 75, was in fair condition Friday night at Mercy Hospital in Fairfield. He was stabbed in the face, abdomen and hands, police said.

Mr. Challinor was in a garage by Sears about 11:30 a.m. when the girl approached him on foot and asked for directions to Dayton, Ohio.

“The next thing he knew, he was being stabbed,” Springdale Police Lt. Mike Mathis said.

The assailant ran to a red coupe and got away, Lt. Mathis said. She was last seen driving south toward East Kemper Road.

The female is black, 16 to 18 years old, 5-feet-2 with a thin build, short hair and a dark complexion. She was wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information is asked to call Springdale Police at 346-5760 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
