Firefighters to hold annual memorial

Cincinnati firefighters will hold their annual memorial service downtown Wednesday.

Union officials considered canceling the event, given that they just sponsored a ceremony commemorating the anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. But they decided to hold it, still wanting to honor active and retired firefighters from throughout Hamilton County who died the past year.

The service begins noon at the Cincinnati Fire Fighters Memorial Park, Sixth Street and Central Avenue.
