KFC manager refuses robber in Florence
FLORENCE Not only did the manager of a fast-food restaurant refuse to hand over any money during a robbery attempt Monday, police say they captured the would-be robber as he left without any loot.
Harrison S. Davis, 21, of Florence is charged with first-degree robbery. He is being held in the Boone County jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. His next scheduled court appearance is at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Lt. Tim Chesser, spokesman for Florence police, said a man entered the back door of the KFC on U.S. 42 wearing a bandana over his face at 11:53 p.m. Monday. The would-be robber had what was thought to be a semi-automatic handgun stuck in his waistband. The man then cornered the manager and demanded money. After the manger refused to turn over any money, the man ran from the store without stealing anything.
Mr. Davis was arrested just minutes after the robbery by Florence police Officer Carl Dover at the intersection of Lacresta Drive and Jameson Lane.
Police recovered a pellet gun, which was a replica of a Taurus or Beretta 9 mm semiautomatic pistol. It was silver in color with a black grip.
Sixth bomb threat prompts reward offer
ALEXANDRIA Campbell County High School is offering up to a $100 reward to find the person responsible for making bomb threats.
The school had its sixth bomb threat since Sept. 11 on Wednesday, the third straight day the school had to stop classes for a threat. A student accused of making the first threat on Sept. 11 has been disciplined by the school, said Chris Gramke, spokesman for Campbell County Schools. No one has been caught for making the other five threats, all of which appear to be the work of a copycat.
No bomb has ever been found.
The majority of the threats, including Wednesday's, have been in the form of a note scrawled on a restroom wall or stall.
