Pilot killed after WWII plane crashes
The Associated Press
CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio - A World War II-era plane flying in formation during a demonstration crashed and exploded in a field Sunday, killing the pilot, police said.
Witnesses told police that the pilot appeared to lose control and the plane dove into the field around 2:30 p.m. about a mile from the runway at the Pickaway County Memorial Airport. The Ohio Highway Patrol would not release the pilot's name until his family is notified.
The T-6 Texan plane was in formation with three other military planes during a fly-in featuring about 30 aircraft that was open to the public. The plane was used to train pilots during World War II, officials said.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
