        2002
       Oct. 1 — Division series begin.
       Oct. 8 — League championship series begin.
       Oct. 19 — World Series begins, city of AL champion.
       Oct.-Nov. TBA — Free agent filing, 15 days after World Series.
       Nov. 10-14 — General managers meetings, Tucson, Ariz.
       Dec. 7 — Last day for teams to offer salary arbitration to their former players who became free agents.
       Dec. 13-16 — Winter meetings, Nashville, Tenn.
       Dec. 19 — Last day for free agents offered salary arbitration to accept or reject the offers.
       Dec. 20 — Last day to offer 2003 contracts to unsigned players.

        2003
       Jan. 5-15 — Salary arbitration filing.
       Jan. 8 — Last day until May 1 for free agents offered arbitration to re-sign with their former teams.
       Jan. 18 — Salary arbitration figures exchanged.
       Feb. 1-21 — Salary arbitration hearings.
       Feb. 14 — First day for pitchers, catchers and injured players to report to spring training.
       Feb. 19 — First day for other players on other teams to report to spring training.
       Feb. 26 — Mandatory reporting date.
       March 2-11 — Teams may renew contracts of unsigned players.
       March 27 — Last day to place players with nonguaranteed contracts on unconditional release waivers without paying their entire 2003 salaries.
       March 31 — Opening day. Active rosters reduced to 25 players.
       July 15 — All-Star game, Chicago.
