Promotions and new on the job
Kevin L. McWhorter has been named community affairs director of the Cincinnati business unit of Turner Construction Co. Mr. McWhorter joined the company six years ago as an estimating assistant in the pre-construction department. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree in architectural engineering and a master's degree in construction.
Judy Rice has been named vice president, information technology at Cognis; Jeffrey J. Mahaffey, vice president of oleochemicals and base surfactants unit; and Greg Pflum, supply chain director for North American operations.
Maureen Govern has been appointed chief technology officer at Convergys Corp., and Larry Schwartz to executive vice president of North American Operations for the information management group.
Paul Gelter has been named senior vice president, process and project management, for the American Modern Insurance Group, the principal subsidiary of The Midland Co. Mr. Gelter, who is also vice president of The Midland Co., has worked with American Modern for the last two years in a consulting role on its modernLINK Internet e-business initiative.
Kristen Bibart has joined LPK (Libby Prszyk Kathman) as account coordinator; Shari Ernst, Lauren Imrich and Erin Wisecup, associate account executives; T.J. Turner, administrative clerk; Kristin Lamarre and Christine Bunnell, account executives; and Jessica Buchert as a intern in financial services.
Andrew R. Lorenz has been named senior project executive at Messer Construction Co. and the following have been named project managers: Nicholas Apanius, Brian M. Borcherding, Christopher L. Doll, and Matthew F. Leopard.
Tammy Jeffers has joined the office of Dr. Debra McIntosh as dental assistant. Ms. Jeffers has more than 10 years of professional experience aiding in direct patient care and patient relations.
She graduated from Sinclair Community College in Dayton and the Institute of Medical-Dental Technology in Fairfield.
Patricia Townsend has joined the culinary staff at the Drawbridge Village Premier Hotel as director of food and beverage; Beth Dicus, catering manager; and Doug Burgess, executive chef.
Terry Hankner has been named president of Comey & Shepherd Realtors. Ms. Hankner, formerly Comey & Shepherd's executive vice president, has been with the Mariemont-headquartered company since 1987. She is past-president of the Cincinnati area Board of Realtors and the Ohio Association of Realtors.
John F. Hale has joined The Crowell Co. as director of construction management. Mr. Hale has been a construction manager for more than 25 years, starting as project manager for Duke. Years later he was project manager with Client Construction Management. He will be responsible for tenant improvements, building and infrastructure improvements and new construction for the properties managed by The Crowell Co.
Dan Bick and Amy L. Hengehold have been named assistant cashiers at Fifth Third Bank.
Michelle McMahon has been named vice president of operations at LaRosa's Inc. Ms. McMahon joined the company as an hourly restaurant employee in 1985. She has served as call center supervisor, special events coordinator, divisional general manager and most recently, director of operations. She will be responsible for building productive employee teams - including formal training and career-development programs for restaurant managers, area managers and franchisees.
Diane Sapitro has been appointed assistant manager of the West Chester Tri County office of Coldwell Banker West Shell.
James S. McCoy has joined Xavier University as associate vice president for enrollment management. Mr. McCoy will oversee the offices of admission, financial aid, registrar, student retention services and enrollment research. He received his doctorate in philosophy and master's degree in science from Pennsylvania State University. He received his bachelor's degree from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Katy Hollister has been appointed national managing partner of the private client advisers practice at Deloitte & Touche LLP.
John H. Jacobs, president and chief executive officer of The Union Central Life Insurance Co., has been elected chairman by the company's board of directors. Mr. Jacobs was elected president in 1998, and president and chief executive officer in 2000. He has been with Union Central for more than 21 years. He succeeds Larry R. Pike.
Gregory A. Deyhle has been named a partner at Mellott & Mellott, P.L.L.; Mary B. Pollock and Susan E. Chapman have been named staff level II in the firm; and Will N. Woodward and Hong Wang have joined the firm as staff accountants.
Dale A. Stalf has been named managing partner at the law firm of Buckley King in the Cincinnati office. Before joining the law firm, Mr. Stalf had been in the practice with another Cincinnati firm, and worked as an attorney for the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Xavier University and from the University of Cincinnati College of Law.
Tina Ruddy and Steve Wilde have been named partners at Directions Research Inc. (DRI), a market research firm; Elizabeth Allspach named senior project manager; Steve Heile, production services manager; Bob Kushner, research consultant; Kerrin Sir, senior project manager; and Nick Tallarigo, junior network integrator.
David W. Clark has been named senior vice president/human resources at Federated Department Stores Inc. Mr. Clark as been a Federated vice president since 1995. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati.

KZF Design has been named as an Interiors Giant by Interior Design for the 16th consecutive year.
Katie Lynch, a design consultant at Ethan Allen, Cincinnati store, has received the Ethan Allen's Local Circle of Excellence Award.
Michael Schuster Associates Inc., a Cincinnati-based architectural design firm, received two awards from the American Institute of Architects for projects involving modernization of the Hamilton County Courthouse and design of the Over-the-Rhine playground on Vine Street. Michael Schuster Associates also received a 2001 IIDA Honor Award from the International Interior Design Association for the complete redesign and modernization of Deskey Integrated Branding, a graphic and product design firm, downtown.
Tammy Berkhouse has been named the Top New Tupperware Manager in North America at the company's annual convention.
