Area man tested for West Nile virus
Patient hospitalized in Western Hills
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Officials are awaiting test results to determine whether Hamilton County has its first case of a human infected with the West Nile virus.
Aaron Bley, director of public relations for Mercy Franciscan Hospital Western Hills, confirmed Wednesday night that a male patient from Hamilton County hospitalized there has been tested for the virus.
We're awaiting test results, Mr. Bley said. We probably won't know until (today) or Friday.
Cincinnati's health commissioner, Dr. Malcolm Adcock, said Wednesday night that he is aware of the case.
It's still up in the air until they receive confirmation, Dr. Adcock said.
It could be something entirely different. Obviously, if they're testing for the West Nile virus, he has an illness consistent with the West Nile virus.
