Warren shows off horses

map
Surprise — the horses are running in Warren County.

The Carl H. Lindner Family American Jumping Classic will be at 8 p.m. today at Galbreath Field in Kings Mills. Since it started in 1981, the event has raised nearly $3 million for local scholarships and the Shriners Burns Hospital in Cincinnati, said Louise C. Hoelker, a nurse and hospital spokeswoman.

Equestrian sports are growing in popularity in part because the federal Title IX program has helped give recognition to the sport, she said.

At today's Jumping Classic, former 2000 Olympians Margie Goldstein Engle and Laura Kraut are expected to qualify for the $75,000 grand prize.

Tickets to the event cost from $7.50 to $15 and may be purchased at the gate or from Ticketmaster. Parking is available at the field and surrounding lots.
