SYLVANIA — Defending champion Robert Gerwin of Cincinnati shot a 77 Wednesday and fell 11 stokes off the pace in the 96th Ohio Amateur golf championship at Sylvania Country Club.

        Ohio State's Justin Collins shot a 5-under-par 67to move into a tie for the lead with Logan's Jason Gerken. Collins, a native of Ironton who will be a senior with the Buckeyes, matched Ashland's Tony Brown for the low round of the day as swirling winds dried the course and turned shot selection into guesswork.
