Dickey memorial service changed to Saturday

Enquirer staff and news services

The date of the memorial service for basketball standout Derrek Dickey has been changed to 3 p.m. Saturday at Purcell Marian High School. The previously announced date was July 18.

Dickey's parents, John and Ola Dickey, have also set up a memorial scholarship at Purcell in their son's name. Dickey, 51, died suddenly last Tuesday after suffering a stroke.

He starred at Purcell and the University of Cincinnati, and won an NBA championship with Golden State in 1975.
