Churchill Downs changes post time for Friday

Enquirer staff and news services

Churchill Downs changed its first race post time and added a race to the track's racing program Friday. An 11th race has been added to what had been scheduled as a 10-race card. Post time for the first race Friday is now 1:10 p.m. First post had been scheduled at 3:10 p.m.

The change for Friday means each of the final four racing programs of the spring meet — beginning with the holiday program Thursday through the closing day program Sunday — will consist of 11 races and all will have a 1:10 first post. There is no change in the schedule for Wednesday's racing program (3:10 p.m. first post).

        • Stonerside Stable's Congaree, third in the 2001 Kentucky Derby and winner of the Lone Star Park Handicap, will not make his turf debut in Churchill Downs' Firecracker Breeders' Cup on Thursday.

Trainer Bob Baffert said the 4-year-old Arazi colt would skip the $100,000-added, one-mile turf race and ship back to his Santa Anita base to focus on big races on the main track.
