Parents told of 'unsubstantiated' sex allegation

NEWPORT An allegation of sexual misconduct at Newport Central Catholic High School prompted an investigation by local and state authorities and a letter to parents.
Principal Bob Noll said the letter explained to parents that the allegation of wrongdoing was reported to the proper authorities and found to be unsubstantiated.
No criminal charges were filed.
He declined to discuss the specific allegations.
Mr. Noll said the letter was sent home to dispel a great deal of rumors about exactly what happened at a party on April 11.
Commonwealth Attorney Jack Porter confirmed that a Diocese of Covington attorney contacted him to report the allegation.
The diocese reported that someone had complained that a part-time male employee had made an unwanted sexual advance to a female student during a school-sponsored event.
Mr. Porter said he passed the information on to Newport Police.
Officers investigated the incident but filed no charge.
The Cabinet for Families and Children also investigated and took no action.
