Tarbell pays $10.5K; owed back taxes
By Gregory Korte
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Cincinnati City Councilman Jim Tarbell last week paid $10,546 in current and back property taxes he owed Hamilton County.
The payment brings him up-to-date on a tax bill that had been delinquent for nearly two years.
The taxes were owed on eight parcels he owns in Over-the-Rhine. The parcels comprise the property of Grammer's, a now-defunct restaurant that occasionally holds private parties and receptions.
Tax records show that Mr. Tarbell had missed three semiannual tax payments since January 2001. Current taxes are due Thursday.
Mr. Tarbell is perhaps the city's best-known advocate for redeveloping Over-the-Rhine, a neighborhood that is the city's poorest in median income but, Mr. Tarbell says, is richest in architecture.
Mr. Tarbell paid the taxes after he was asked about the delinquency.
