The Associated Press
LONDON Top seeds Lleyton Hewitt and Tim Henman advanced to the semifinals of the Queen's Club grass-court tournament Friday.
Hewitt, bidding for a third straight Queen's title, edged ninth-seeded Todd Martin 7-6 (4), 7-5. Henman fought back from a set down to beat Hyung-Taik Lee 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Hewitt will face fifth-seeded Sjeng Schalken, and Henman will play Raemon Sluiter.
GARY WEBER OPEN: Second-seeded Roger Federer defeated Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-4 in 52 minutes to advance to the semifinals in Halle, Germany. Federer solidified his position as a favorite for Wimbledon, punctuating his quarterfinal victory in the Grand Slam warmup with an ace.
Top-seeded Yevgney Kafelnikov rallied from a loss in the first set to beat Bohdan Ulihrach 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Kafelnikov will face Kenneth Carlsen, and Federer will play Nicolas Kiefer in the semifinals.
DFS CLASSIC: Top-seeded Jelena Dokic moved into the semifinals of the grass-court tournament in Birmingham, England, with a win over unseeded Eleni Daniilidou 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Dokic next plays eighth-seeded Lisa Raymond, who beat Clarisa Fernandez when the latter retired during the first set with a knee injury.
Nicole Pratt beat seventh-seeded Anne Kremer 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Pratt advances to play Anastasia Myskina, who upset third-seeded Magdalena Maleeva 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 (2).
NAVRATILOVA RETURNS: Martina Navratilova, 45, who retired in 1994 after winning a record 167 singles titles, received a wild card to play in next week's Eastbourne tournament. I'm excited, she said. It should be a whole lot of fun.
