Flesch pleased with himself
Enquirer news services
FARMINGDALE, N.Y. Steve Flesch of Union, Ky., was happier than most players after a second straight 72 Friday left him at 4-over-par 144 at the U.S. Open at Bethpage Black.
I'm having fun. I'm the perfect guy the USGA would pick to go nuts, Flesch said after making the cut for only the second time in six U.S. Open starts. They target a guy like me to lose it. That's why I'm thrilled to death.
Franklin native Frank Lickliter barely made the cut at 10-over 150. Turpin High grad Andy Sanders and Miami University grad Adam Speirs both missed the cut.
