Acquitted mother enjoys life
The Associated Press
CLEVELAND Walking out of jail and back into a life put on hold for nine months, a mother acquitted of charges that she set a house fire that killed two of her children said she does not hold a grudge against prosecutors.
I don't have time for that, said Eve Rudd, 28, of Cleveland. I have a son I need to raise, a husband I love and a church to attend.
Ms. Rudd was acquitted last week of murder and aggravated arson in the June 10 fire that killed two of her three children, Steven Jr., 6, and Eriel, 4.
Ms. Rudd told The Plain Dealer that she has spent time enjoying the little things since her acquittal a glass of orange juice, barbecue chicken, sleeping in a real bed and holding her sole surviving son, Michael, and her husband, Steven.
Ms. Rudd said she wants to reclaim the life she had before prosecutors announced in August that they would seek to put her to death. She was held in a jail for nine months without bail.
But she said a part of that life would be missing forever with her two children gone.
