        TV picks: Grab some duct tape and watch those crazy Junkyard Wars teams try to create contraptions to drill through a concrete wall on the summer season premiere (9 p.m., The Learning Channel), followed by two more teams building a machine to climb steep inclines (10 p.m.).

        • TV critic John Kiesewetter also says D-Day: Beneath the Waves looks at wreckage at the bottom of the English Channel (9 p.m., Discovery Channel).

        • Of course Shaggy and those dog-loving Baha Men are on the new Scooby Doo Soundtrack (Atlantic; $18.98 CD, $12.98 cassette). But so are Outkast, Sugar Ray, the duos of Uncle Kracker and Busta Rhymes and Lil Romeo and papa Master P.

        • A hip-hop soulman out of Atlanta's LaFace camp, Donell Jones is back with his third album, Life Goes On (Arista; $18.98 CD, $12.98 cassette).
