        Lincoln Regional
       Nebraska 7, Wisconsin-Milwaukee 2

        LINCOLN, Neb. — Jeff Blevins hit a three-run homer and Brian Duensing pitched 6 2/3 innings of scoreless relief as Nebraska beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee 7-2 Friday, the opening day of the NCAA baseball regionals.

        John Grose and Jed Morris added solo homers for the Cornhuskers (43-18), who are trying to advance to the College World Series for the second straight year.

        Duensing (6-1) relieved starter Aaron Marsden in the third inning and allowed the Panthers (36-19) three hits the rest of the game.

        Marist 5, SW Missouri St. 4, 11 innings

        LINCOLN, Neb. — Tim Allen led off the 11th inning with a home run and Marist beat Southwest Missouri State 5-4.

        Marist (41-12) blew a 4-1 lead in the eighth inning, but Allen regained it when he drove the first pitch from Shaun Marcum (4-2) over the fence in left for his eighth homer.

        Ryan Kondratowicz (6-0) hit a batter and allowed a one-out single in the bottom of the 11th, but held on for the win.

        Brooks Colvin's RBI-single capped the eighth-inning rally that brought the Bears (41-20) into the 4-4 tie.

       Columbia Regional
       North Carolina 5, James Mad
ison 0

        COLUMBIA, S.C. — Scott Autrey threw a two-hitter as North Carolina beat James Madison 5-0.

        Autrey (5-3), who struck out six, retired 13 straight batters until Jason Cushman reached on an error in the ninth. James Madison (43-15) had been averaging almost nine runs a game.

        Ron Braun of the Tar Heels (41-19) went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs.

        South Carolina 6, Virginia Commonwealth 3

        COLUMBIA, S.C. — Gary Bell came within one out of a complete game as South Carolina beat Virginia Commonwealth 6-3,

        Bell (10-2) retired 15 straight batters at one point, striking out eight and allowing just one walk. But the Gamecocks (49-14) had to hold off a rally in the ninth, when the Rams (38-26) strung together four singles and a double to load the bases down 6-3.

        Aaron Rawl came on to relieve Bell and got Matt Davis to fly out to right to get his second save of the year.

       Clemson Regional
       East Carolina 13, Elon 7

        CLEMSON, S.C. — Warren Gaspar's RBI-single in the seventh inning broke a 7-all tie and led East Carolina to a 13-7 victory over Elon.

        The Pirates (42-18-1) led 6-0 after two innings as Darryl Lawhorn hit his 18th and 19th home runs.

        The Phoenix (34-22), in their first NCAA tournament, tied it 7-7 with a seven-run seventh capped by Jim Swenson's grand slam.

        Reliever Neal Sears (8-3) worked the last 2 2-3 innings for the victory.
       Clemson 15, Georgia Southern 1

        CLEMSON, S.C. — Khalil Greene and Jeff Baker each hit two homers — both tying the school's season record with 24 — as Clemson beat Georgia Southern 15-1.

        Baker and Greene, who combined for six RBIs, equaled the 1991 mark set by Eric Marcina and tied by Matthew LeCroy in 1997.

        The Tigers (48-14) added homers by Kyle Frank and Zane Green, his first career homer in 156 at-bats, to shatter their mark of three home runs in an NCAA tournament game.

        Tigers starter Steve Reba (13-2) held Georgia Southern (38-24) to four hits over six innings.

       Austin Regional
       Baylor 4, Lamar 2

        AUSTIN, Texas — Justin Taylor allowed five hits and struck out six to lead Baylor to a 4-2 victory over Lamar.

        Lamar (35-23) took a 2-0 lead, but Taylor (9-2) allowed only two base runners over a span of 6 1-3 innings before giving way to Kyle Edens with one out in the ninth.

        Lamar starter Clay Hensley (8-6) allowed three hits through six innings, but Trey Webb's RBI groundout broke a 2-2 tie and was part of a four-run seventh for Baylor (35-24).

        Texas 7, Central Connecticut St. 2

        AUSTIN, Texas — Brad Halsey allowed three hits and struck out eight in 8 1-3 innings to lead Texas to a 7-2 victory over Central Connecticut State.

        The Longhorns (49-14) scored two runs in three of the first four innings.

        The Blue Devils (34-22) got their runs on a double by Robert Hosgood with one out in the ninth. Jesen Merle relieved Halsey (7-2) and retired the next two batters.

        Texas finished with 15 hits, including singles by the first three batters of the game.

       Tuscaloosa Regional
       Florida Atlantic 16, Auburn 11

        TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Leadoff man Gabe Somarriba drove in six runs and L.J. Biernbam was 5-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs as Florida Atlantic pounded Auburn 16-11.

        The Owls (44-18) scored 10 runs in the first inning and finished with five homers and 16 hits against six pitchers.

        Auburn (34-25) was on its third pitcher before recording a second out but rallied to tie it 10-10 after three innings.

        Southeast Missouri St. 7, Alabama 4

        TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Ryan Govek hit his first homer of the season and Tim Alvarez pitched four scoreless innings of relief as Southeast Missouri State surprised Alabama 7-4.

        Govek, the No. 9 hitter for the Indians (37-18), entered the game with a .235 batting average and just three extra base hits in 102 at-bats. He had a two-run homer and a double and walked.

        Peter Stonard went 3-for-4 for Alabama (48-14), the No. 3 national seed, which had been 13-0 in regional games at Sewell-Thomas Stadium and was 32-2 at home this season.

       Houston 9, New Mexico St. 0

        MESA, Ariz. — Brad Sullivan threw a six-hitter and Brett Cooley and Jesse Crain homered as Houston beat New Mexico State 9-0.

        Sullivan (12-1) struck out nine in recording his second shutout in three starts for the Cougars (45-15).

        Erik Winegarden had three hits for New Mexico State (37-24).

        Arizona St. 6, San Diego 3

        MESA, Ariz. — Rod Allen homered and Dustin Pedroia had four hits, including the go-ahead single in the sixth inning, and Arizona State beat San Diego 6-3.

        The Sun Devils (36-19) rallied from a 3-1 deficit after four innings. Allen's solo homer, his sixth of the season and first in more than two months, tied it 3-3 in the sixth and Pedroia added an RBI single.

        San Diego (28-22) loaded the bases in the ninth inning, but Ryan Schroyer struck out Mike McCoy to end the game and earn his eighth save.

       Atlanta Regional
       Georgia 7, Louisville 1

        ATLANTA — Matt Woods pitched seven scoreless innings, and Josh Smith and Lee Mitchell hit two-run homers to lead Georgia past Louisville 7-1.

        Woods (3-2) struck out seven and allowed five hits as the Bulldogs (31-27) snapped a seven-game losing streak.

        Mark Jurich had two hits for Louisville (39-17).

        Georgia Tech 6, Coastal Carolina 0

        ATLANTA — Kyle Bakker threw a three-hitter to lead Georgia Tech to a 6-0 victory over Coastal Carolina.

        The 6-foot-9 sophomore left-hander didn't allow a hit until the sixth innings. Bakker (11-2) struck out eight and did not give up a walk.

        Jeremy Slayden and Brandon Braggs each had two hits and two RBIs for Georgia Tech (47-14).

        Starter Justin Sturge (6-3) took the loss for the Chanticleers (43-18).

       Tallahassee Regional
       Cent. Florida 6, South Florida 1

        TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Bo Hall allowed five hits in his second career complete game as Central Florida beat South Florida 6-1.

        Both of Hall's complete games have come against the Bulls (33-28). Hall (10-0) walked two and struck out four.

        Clay Timpner had a two-run double in the first inning for Central Florida (41-20).

        Florida St. 11, Stetson 8

        TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Nick Rogers drove in three runs, and Stephen Drew had an RBI-double in a four-run eighth inning as Florida State rallied to beat Stetson 11-8, extending its winning streak to a national-best 23 games.

        The Seminoles (57-12), the No. 1 overall seed in the 64-team field, overcame a six-run deficit — its largest come-from-behind victory this season.

        The Hatters (42-18) had a 6-0 lead after three innings, but Florida State took its first lead in the seventh when Rogers' RBI-groundout made it 7-6.

        Reliever Daniel Hodges (4-1) allowed two hits and two runs in two innings for Florida State.

       Winston-Salem Regional
       Richmond 15, Navy 5

        WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Vito Chiaravalloti had two three-run homers and an RBI double, and Mike McGirr won his 10th straight decision as Richmond beat Navy 15-5 for its school-record 50th victory.

        McGirr (12-1) didn't allow a hit through six innings and lost his shutout by giving up two runs in the eighth. Richmond (50-10) had 12 runs and 14 hits through four innings.

        Navy (22-24) had played just twice since April 29.

        Wake Forest 12, George Washington 6

        WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Jamie D'Antona hit his sixth home run in as many career postseason games and Kyle Sleeth won his 20th straight decision as Wake Forest beat George Washington 12-6.

        The Demon Deacons (45-11-1) fell behind 3-0, but D'Antona started Wake Forest's nine-run fourth inning with a walk, then capped it off with a grand slam. D'Antona hit five homers in the NCAA tournament last year, including a record three in one game.

        Sleeth (14-0) allowed four runs and seven hits through four innings but settled down, striking out a career-high 11.

        Tony Brown's fourth homer gave the Colonials (42-22), making their first NCAA appearance since 1992, a 4-1 lead.

       Baton Rouge Regional
       LSU 5, Southern 4

        BATON ROUGE, La. — Freshman J.C. Holt led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a triple, then scored on Sean Barker's single to give LSU a 5-4 victory over Southern.

        It was Holt's fourth hit of the game and came off Southern reliever Dewon Day (0-1), who walked the bases loaded to get to Barker, leading hitter this season for the Tigers (41-19).

        Brandon Mason gave Southern (45-9) a 4-3 lead with a two-run double in the sixth, but LSU's Matt Heath tied it in the seventh with a home run.

        Louisiana-Lafayette 6, Tulane 3

        BATON ROUGE, La. — Corey Coles went 3-for-4, stole two bases and scored three runs as Louisiana-Lafayette beat Tulane 6-3.

        Lafayette (38-21) broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth when Coles scored on a single by Brad Saloom.

        Justin Gabriel (10-4) allowed nine hits and struck out one in a complete game.

        Tommy Manzella hit a solo homer in the third for Tulane (35-26), while Bryan Stelmack's two-run homer in the fourth lifted the Green Wave into a 3-3 tie.

       Houston Regional
       Rice 8, Harvard 3

        HOUSTON — Eric Arnold went 4-for-5 and hit a two-run homer to lead Rice to an 8-3 victory over Harvard.

        Vincent Sinisi was 3-for-5 for Rice (48-11) and Steven Herce (12-2) went eight innings, striking out eight.

        Ian Wallace and Mark Mager each had an RBI as Harvard (20-25) closed within 6-3 in the eighth. Arnold homered in the bottom of the inning.

        Texas Tech 5, Washington 4

        HOUSTON — Jon Slack's RBI-double in the bottom of the ninth lifted Texas Tech to a 5-4 victory over Washington.

        With two outs, Bryon Smith doubled to left center and Slack, who went 2-for-5, followed with his hit that gave the win to the Red Raiders (42-18).

        Tyler Davidson of Washington (30-26-1) tied the game 4-4 when he led off the eighth with his 14th home run of the year.

        Steve Rowe (10-2) allowed one run and one hit over the final two innings to get the win.

       Stanford Regional
       Long Beach St. 6, San Jose St. 3

        STANFORD, Calif. — Paul McAnulty had two doubles and drove in three runs and Daniel Eisentrager pitched six solid innings as Long Beach State beat San Jose State 6-3.

        Brad Davis, Jeremy Reed and Mike Hofius all had two hits for the 49ers (38-19), who won their eighth straight.

        Gabe Lopez and Hector Zamora homered on consecutive pitches in the top of the first for the Spartans (45-16), but Eisentrager (10-3) did not allow another runner past first base in winning his fifth straight decision.

       Wichita Regional
       Arkansas 8, Oklahoma 5

        WICHITA, Kan. — Ryan Fox had three hits and three RBIs to lead Arkansas to an 8-5 victory over Oklahoma.

        Fox's two-run single in the third snapped a 3-3 tie and gave the Razorbacks (32-26) the lead for good.

        The Sooners (35-26) got four runs and 11 hits against Arkansas starter Charlie Isaacson who went 6 1-3 innings.

       South Bend Regional
       Notre Dame 8, Ohio St. 6

        SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Steve Sollman had three hits and Brian Stavisky had two RBIs for Notre Dame in an 8-6 victory over Ohio State.

        Notre Dame (45-15) used a five-run seventh inning — with Sollman and Stavisky each driving in a run — to overcome a 5-2 deficit.

        Christian Snavely's two-run homer gave the Buckeyes (36-19-1) a 5-2 lead in the seventh.

        J.P. Gagne (8-4) earned the win, allowing three runs in three innings of relief.
       South Alabama 7, Kent St. 4

        SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Erick Smallwood went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs and Shane Schoville had a two-run double to lead South Alabama to a 7-4 victory over Kent State.

        Sam Smith (9-1) pitched a strong seven innings for the Jaguars (42-17), allowing 11 hits and four runs while striking out five.

        Casey Ellis, Chad Kinyon and Erick Holick all had two hits for Kent State (37-21).

        South Alabama's Josh Touchstone extended his hitting streak to 30 games.

       Gainesville Regional
       Miami 9, Fla. International 1

        GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Danny Matienzo's solo homer sparked a five-run fourth inning and Miami opened defense of its national title with a 9-1 victory over Florida International.

        The game was delayed 3 1/2 hours because of rain but the weather was the only thing that slowed down the Hurricanes (31-26), who won their 10th consecutive NCAA postseason game.

        The Golden Panthers (41-19) entered the game fifth in the nation in hitting (.341), but only had three hits before Hector Nunez homered in the eighth.

       Los Angeles Regional
Southern Cal 5, BYU 4, 12 innings

        LOS ANGELES — Brian Barre led off the bottom of the 12th inning with a home run to give Southern California a 5-4 victory over Brigham Young.

        Matt Carson's sacrifice fly in the seventh gave the Cougars (29-30-1) a 4-3 lead, but Southern California (35-22) tied it in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Jon Brewster.

        Jeff Mousser (9-5) pitched eight innings for the Cougars, allowing six hits and four runs. USC reliever Brett Bannister (8-3) was the winner, allowing two hits and no runs over six innings.
