Man shot 2 through door, police say

A 75-year-old man was arrested Sunday night on charges of shooting two people through the closed door of a Westwood apartment.

Cincinnati Police say the shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday when Malcolm Williams confronted Robert Powell and an unidentified woman at Mr. Powell's apartment in the 2900 block of Woodrow Avenue.

Mr. Williams, also of Westwood, had two pistols in his waistband and a revolver in his hand when he told Mr. Powell to “leave her alone,” police said.

When Mr. Powell slammed the door closed, police say, Mr. Williams fired a single shot through the door, striking Mr. Powell in the abdomen.

Police say the woman was struck by a ricochet of the bullet. Neither of the injuries is life-threatening, said police spokesman Kurt Byrd.
