Thorpe tops list of Kroger commitments

Defending champion Jim Thorpe heads a list of 38 players who have committed to play in the Kroger Senior Classic.
Thorpe is one of four previous winners of the tournament who have told tournament director Margie French they will play Sept. 2-8 when the tournament moves to the new Arnold Palmer-designed TPC at River's Bend.
Hubert Green, the 2000 champion, joins Isao Aoki and Jay Sigel as former champs who will play.
Also committing are two-time U.S. Open champ Larry Nelson and top money winners from last year, Dana Quigley, Ed Dougherty, Bobby Wadkins and John Mahaffey.
Others include Bill Brask, Charles Coody, Rodger Davis, Terry Dill, Bob Duval, R.W. Eaks, Dave Eichelberger, Vicente Fernandez, Gibby Gilbert, Ted Goin, Walter Hall, Harold Henning, Jim Holtgrieve, Clyde Hughey, Doug Johnson, Terry Mauney, Mike McCullough, Jerry McGee, Bob Murphy, Christy O'Conner, Dan O'Neill, Mark Pfeil, Don Pooley, Jimmy Powell, Butch Sheehan, Jack Spradlin, Leonard Thompson, Steven Veriato and Larry Ziegler.
