Phenix named conference swimmer of year

University of Texas junior Erin Phenix (Ursuline HS) has been named the Big 12 Conference women's swimmer of the year. Selections were made by a vote of the league's head swimming and diving coaches.
Phenix, a relay gold medalist at the 2000 Olympics, finished fifth at the NCAA championships in the 50-yard freestyle and seventh in the 100 free and was part of a third-place 200 free relay and fourth-place 200 medley relay.
At the Big 12 meet, she won the 50 and 100 free and finished second in the 200 free.
XAVIER: Xavier placed 128 athletes on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, honoring those with a 3.0 GPA or better. XU's total represents 63.4 percent of the 202 athletes on XU's 13 A-10 teams.
