Cyclones one win from playoffs

        The Cincinnati Cyclones are two points from clinching a berth in the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs after their sixth consecutive win, 5-1 over the Peoria Rivermen Friday at Firstar Center.

        The Cyclones still lead Wheeling by three points after Wheeling won at Reading 3-2 in a shootout. One Cincinnati win or one Wheeling loss, and the Cyclones clinch.

        The Cyclones and Nailers face each other Sunday at Firstar Center. Cincinnati travels to Peoria for an 8:05p.m. game today.

        First period: 1. P, Cloutier (Rowe, Voth) 7:33; 2. C, Biggs (Huppe, Bootland) 13:04; 3. C, Biggs (PPG) (Bootland, Jozefowicz) 17:04.

        Second period: 4. C, Noga (Knopp) 13:20; 5. C, Noga (Molina, Knopp) 15:27.

        Third period: 5. C, Bootland (Huppe, Egeland) 15:43.

        Goalies Cin, Alex Westlund (29-16-2 record; 32 saves. 33 shots); Peo, Cody Rudkowski (4-2-4 record; 21 saves, 26 shots); Power Plays: Cin 1-2; Peo 0-3.
