Our city's got game
Columnist Paul Daugherty says: Cincinnati has boycotts, we have battle lines. We have a cow, man. Bill Cosby might not love us. But Bill Packer does. We are the epicenter of Hoop Nation.

65 teams not enough
Columnist Tim Sullivan says: The NCAA Tournament proves the same postulate I've been preaching for my last five belt sizes: Bloated is beautiful.

Clark named fourth outfielder
Brady Clark could be a starter, but he's so valuable off the bench that Redsmanager Bob Boone is reluctant to put him in the lineup.

UC BEARCATS
Bearcats low-key about high seed
After Oklahoma knocked off top-ranked Kansas in the Big 12 Tournament final Sunday, the University of Cincinnati players had more than doubts. Some flat-out figured the Bearcats would lose an NCAA Tournament No. 1 seed to the Sooners.

UC sees Ohio State ahead
If No. 1 seed Cincinnati and No. 4 seed Ohio State advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, the schools will meet in San Jose, Calif., on March 21 for a matchup that hasn't take place in 40 years.

Most UC fans will get shut out
It may be within driving distance, but tickets to Cincinnati's first-round NCAA Tournament game against Boston University will not be easy to come by.

Terriers may be underdogs but they'll be dogged
Dennis Wolff has been in this position before. Kind of. In 1997, his Boston University team was a No. 12 seed and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to fifth-seeded Tulsa 81-52.

UC women hope to make 'some noise'
As the lone player remaining from the University of Cincinnati's last NCAA Tournament berth, senior Laura Wilder said the Bearcats won't be as nonchalant as they were three years ago.
Peahens are puzzle to Pirtle
About one hour after coach Laura Pirtle found out her No.6 seeded Bearcats will play No.11 seed St. Peters in the NCAA Tournament, all she said she knew about the Peahens was their name.

XAVIER MUSKETEERS
Xavier wants to do some damage
Their No. 7 seeding in the West Region and first-round date with 10th seed Hawaii (27-5) were a far cry from the desperation of a year ago, when they rejoiced just to get one of the final bids.

Hawaii has international lineup
Xavier may view playing in Dallas as a long trip. Not so its first-round NCAA opponent, Hawaii.
