Record crowd sees UC women win 85-71

        Valerie King scored 26 points to lead No.25 Cincinnati to an 85-71 win over Louisville on Sunday.

        The Bearcats (23-4, 11-3 Conference USA) ended the regular season with a 10-game winning streak and snapped a three-game losing streak against the Cardinals (16-11, 8-6).

        The attendance of 7,246 set a single-game record for a Cincinnati women's basketball game.

        Sara Nord scored 16 points to lead Louisville, which finished 1-6 in conference road games. LiKisha Hoffman and Amanda Wolke each scored 13 points for the Cardinals. UC, which entered the top 25 this week, used a 17-4 run to take a 33-19 lead with 7:19 remaining in the first half.

        Cincinnati led by as many as 22 points three times in the second half.

        Richmond 83, Xavier 71

        Xavier lost its regular-season finale to Richmond, 83-71at the Cintas Center. The Musketeers (10-18 overall, 5-11 Atlantic 10) were led by Amy Waugh's 20 points. It marked the the sixth time in seven games Waugh has scored at least 20 points.

        Amber Goppert's 24 points paced Richmond (14-15, 8-8 A-10).

        The Musketeers will face Rhode Island in the A-10 Tournament opening round at noon Friday in Temple's Liacouras Center at Philadelphia. The Rams beat Fordham 61-55 Sunday.

        Friday's game will be the second meeting between Xavier and Rhode Island, which won 70-58 in Kingston, R.I., Jan.31.

        Xavier has won the last two A-10 Tournaments.
