Dust Commander Stakes field set

Golden Oldie is favored

By Jack Murray
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Golden Oldie, 6, who had his chance for victory compromised by a bad start in the Forego Stakes, will attempt to atone for his loss by a neck in today's Dust Commander Stakes at Turfway Park, which drew a field of nine older horses, including 2000 winner Glacial.

Forego winner Sense of Duty did not enter the Dust Commander. Second choice Carson City Kid, who was claimed by trainer Bernie Flint for $25,000 at Turfway on Nov.25, will be seeking his fourth consecutive victory.

        The Dust Commander field:
• Accounted For, Jeff Johnston, 8-1
• Golden Oldie, Axel Dasilva, 2-1
• Mail Call, Orlando Mojica, 10-1
• Carson City Kid, Angela Owens, 5-2
• Winning Connection, Dean Kutz, 6-1
• Virtual G., Gret Kuntzweiler, 8-1
• Little Lee, James Bruins, 6-1
• Law Review, Jose Martinez Jr., 5-2
• Glacial, Brian Peck, 7-2.

NOTES: Trainer Tony Dutrow is weighing whether to run Whirlaway Stakes winner Saratoga Blues in the John Battaglia Memorial Stakes on March 2 at Turfway Park or remain in New York for the March 17 Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct.
