NBA roundup
The Associated Press
SACRAMENTO, Calif. Chris Webber had 20 points and 14 rebounds, outdueling Michael Jordan and leading the Sacramento Kings to their 20th straight home victory, 109-93 over the Washington Wizards on Thursday night.
Peja Stojakovic added 21 points and Mike Bibby scored 20 as Sacramento improved its league-best record to 39-12. Bobby Jackson added 14 points.
The Kings, who won their second straight since a 108-101 loss to Washington last week, have not lost to the same team twice this season.
The Kings are within three wins of the franchise record for consecutive home victories set by the Rochester Royals in 1949-50.
Jordan, playing his first game in Sacramento in over four years, scored 16 points as the Wizards lost their second straight after winning their previous five. Richard Hamilton added 20 points and Christian Laettner had 14 points and 11 rebounds in his second game back from a bruised right thigh.
Webber, who missed his first triple-double of the season by one assist, recorded his 15th double-double in 26 starts. He has scored more than 20 points in 18 of his last 19 games.
The Kings shot 14-for-27 and scored 36 points in the third quarter, matching a season high for the period. Sacramento led by as many as 26 points in the period, and held an 83-59 lead after three quarters.
The Kings, 28-1 at home, missed nine of their first 10 shits and trailed 13-4 early. Washington made six of its first nine shots.
Jazz 98, 76ers 91
PHILADELPHIA Karl Malone had 26 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for Utah.
Byron Russell added 14 points, and John Stockton and Jarron Collins each scored 11 for the Jazz.
Allen Iverson scored 34 points on 9-for-27 shooting, and Derrick Coleman had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Utah has won two straight after losing the first two games of a nine-game road trip. The Jazz have five more on the road before returning home following the Olympics.
Nuggets 100, Grizzlies 85
MEMPHIS, Tenn. Raef LaFrentz had 23 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots for Denver.
Pistons 85, Nets 80
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. Jerry Stackhouse scored 22 points and took over late to lead Detroit, handing the Nets their first three-game losing streak of the season.
Stackhouse scored six points, made the pass that set up Damon Jones' go-ahead 3-pointer and also had a steal that ignited a 10-2 run over the final 2:37 that gave Detroit its 11th win in 15 games.
New Jersey forward Kenyon Martin missed the second half against Detroit after re-injuring his right forearm. Martin bruised his arm Tuesday in a loss to Atlanta.
SPURS:
San Antonio activated reserve forward Danny Ferry, two months after he was put on the injured list because of a lower back strain.
Ferry, 35, who missed 31 games, was expected to be in uniform for Thursday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.
LAKERS:
Veteran announcer Chick Hearn, who has been absent since heart surgery late last year, will return to his broadcasting duties March 1 when the team plays Indiana at home.
I'm so excited to return I can hardly stand it, Hearn, 85, said in a statement issued by the team Thursday. To hear the roar of the crowd and feel the warmth of the fans at Staples Center will be wonderful.
GRIZZLIES: Rodney Buford was suspended for five games by the league for violating its anti-drug rules.
