Duke stomps Pack

Boozer has career game

By The Associated Press

DURHAM, N.C. — Carlos Boozer scored a career-high 32 points Thursday night and top-ranked Duke beat No. 24 North Carolina State 108-71, the Blue Devils 12th straight win over the Wolfpack.

Boozer was 13-of-14 from the field for Duke (23-1, 11-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), which plays at No. 3 Maryland on Sunday.

Anthony Grundy and Ilian Evtimov each had 16 points for the Wolfpack (18-7, 7-5), who are ranked for the first time in two years.

N.C. State came in with the ACC's best scoring defense at 64.1 points a game, but gave up a season-high point total and the most under coach Herb Sendek in 185 games. It was also the most the program has given up since Duke scored 110 on Feb. 15, 1992, as Duke shot 69 percent in the second half and 63 percent for the game.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Dan Dickau scored 23 points and Cory Violette added 15 points and 15 rebounds the Bulldogs (23-3, 10-1 West Coast Conference) won their eighth straight game and 25th in a row at home. They have beaten the Lions 14 consecutive times dating to 1996.

Kent Dennis had 12 points for Loyola Marymount (9-16, 2-9), which has lost eight straight.

LOS ANGELES — Jason Kapono's 3-pointer with 19 seconds remaining — his third in the final 3:36 — gave the Bruins (17-7, 9-4 Pac-10) the victory.

Arizona's Channing Frye missed a 10-foot bank shot with about three seconds to play and the Wildcats (17-7, 10-4) couldn't get another shot off as the teams scrambled for the loose ball.

Dan Gadzuric had 22 points and 16 rebounds and Kapono had 20 points for UCLA.

Jason Gardner led Arizona with 25 points, scoring all but four by going 7-of-10 from 3-point range.

       No. 12 Stanford 91, Washington 65

SEATTLE — Casey Jacobsen scored 31 points to lead the Cardinal (16-6, 9-4 Pac-10), who beat Washington 105-60 earlier in the season.

Doug Wrenn, second to Jacobsen in the conference in scoring, had 24 points on 9-of-23 shooting for Washington (8-16, 2-12), which has lost five straight and eight of nine.

        ———
No. 25 Southern Cal 83, Arizona St. 61

LOS ANGELES — David Bluthenthal responded to losing his spot in the starting lineup by scoring a season-high 21 points for the Trojans (17-6, 9-4 Pac-10), while Sam Clancy had 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Jason Braxton scored 12 points to lead the Sun Devils (13-10, 6-8).
