WASHINGTON Sergei Gonchar and Adam Oates scored 19 seconds apart in the second period as the Washington Capitals beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1 Monday night.
Colin Forbes also scored for Washington.
Capitals' goaltender Craig Billington, starting consecutive games for the first time this season with Olaf Kolzig out with a knee strain, stopped 19 shots.
Zdeno Ciger scored for Tampa Bay.
Maple Leafs 5, Thrashers 4
TORONTO Tomas Kaberle scored twice, including the go-ahead goal with 4:27 remaining, as Toronto rallied for a victory over Atlanta.
Kaberle also tied the game at 1 at 10:29 of the first.
Gary Roberts, Jonas Hoglund and Mats Sundin also scored for the Maple Leafs, who rallied from 3-1 and 4-3 deficits.
Pascal Rheaume, Dany Heatley, Per Svartvadet and Tony Hrkac scored for the Thrashers.
Red Wings 3, Canadiens 2
MONTREAL Brendan Shanahan scored with 13.2 seconds left in the third period to lift Detroit to a win over Montreal.
Shanahan recovered a rebound in the corner and banked a shot off goalie Jose Theodore from the right corner for his 30th goal of the season and 496th of his career at 19:46.
Montreal's Yanic Perreault scored with 3:18 left to tie it at 2.
Sergei Fedorov scored Detroit's first two goals.
Oleg Petrov also scored for Montreal.
Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman returned to the lineup after missing six games following knee surgery.
Avalanche 5, Bruins 2
DENVER Joe Sakic, Rob Blake and rookie Radim Vrbata each had a goal and an assist to lead Colorado past Boston.
Colorado ended a four-game losing streak at home and extended its lead to seven points over Edmonton in the Northwest Division.
Stephane Yelle and Dan Hinote also scored for Colorado.
Sergei Samsonov and P.J. Axelsson scored for Boston.
The Avalanche announced during the game that they acquired veteran forward Mike Keane from St. Louis for forward Shjon Podein.
