Ducks blank Rats

Bryzgalov to skate for Team Russia

        ALBANY, N.Y. — Russian Olympian Ilja Bryzgalov made 25 saves for his fourth shutout of the season, leading the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to a 4-0 victory over the Albany River Rats Saturday. Travis Brigley, Antti-Jussi Niemi, Dave Roche and Jason Williams scored goals for the Ducks, who have won two straight and are 6-1-3-1 in their last 11 games. Sergei Krivokrasov and Timo Parssinen each had a pair of assists.

        Bryzgalov, named Friday to Team Russia for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games ice hockey tournament, faced nine shots in the first period, nine in the second and seven in the third en route to his 17th win of the season.

        Cincinnati improved to 5-2-1-0 in their last eight games on the road and raised their record to seven games above .500 (25-18-6-3) for the first time this season.

        Ari Ahonen, a first-round pick by New Jersey in 1999, stopped 50 shots for the River Rats, who suffered their second straight shutout and fell to 1-7-1-1 in their last 10 games.

        The Ducks play the fourth game of a current five-game road trip today at 6:05 p.m. in Rochester.
