Duty calls in Forego win

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Sense of Duty, ridden by Brian Peck, won his fourth straight race by rallying for a neck victory over Golden Oldie in the Forego Stakes Saturday at Turfway Park.

Personal First, the 7-5 favorite, finished third in the 6 1/4-furlong race.

“It's been a big day,” said Peck, who rode four winners Saturday. “I didn't want to be that far back, but they were moving up front (:22 1/5 for the first quarter and :45 for the first half-mile). Once I got him into the clear, he took off.” Trainer Paul McGee said he was unsure of the next race for the 6-year-old gelded son of Meadowlake, who improved his career record to 9-7-7 in 31 starts with $309,767 earnings for Turfway's leading owners, Jan, Mace and Samantha Siegel.

        • At Gulfstream Park, retired jockey Yvonne Azeff, assistant trainer to John Ward Jr. who helped prepare Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos last year, was seriously injured Saturday when she was thrown from and pinned under her mount.
