DEKALB, Ill. P.J. Smith scored 22 points Tuesday night in leading Northern Illinois to a 78-70 win over Miami Tuesday night. It was the RedHawks' second straight loss.
The Huskies (6-9, 2-4 Mid-American Conference) were up 30-25 at the half despite shooting just 39.7 percent from the field. They were better from 3-point range, shooting 50 percent (8-of-16).
The only other Husky to score in double digits was Leon Rodgers, who had 16 points and also had 13 rebounds. Northern Illinois scored 16 points off turnovers.
Juby Johnson paced the RedHawks with 25 points. Doug Davis scored 20 points and Eugene Seals added 12 for Miami (7-11, 4-3).
The RedHawks shot 40.4 percent from the field, 22.2 percent from 3-point range.
