Truck driver found, admitted to hospital

The Loveland truck driver who had been classified as a critical missing person was found safe Sunday and was taken to the psychiatric ward at University Hospital.

Daniel Schmitt, 50, was last seen Tuesday leaving his home in the 1200 block of Rich Road. Family members who reported him missing said he has suffered from post-traumatic stress syndrome since a serious traffic accident in 1997.

On Sunday, he phoned his wife, Debbie, met her in the parking lot of a Thornton's Gas Station on Loveland-Madeira Road, then went to the hospital.
